The Indiana Chapter's 2013 Insurance Fraud Seminar "From the Fire Scene to the Courtroom" took place on September 25, 2013 at the Indy West Conference Center of the Wayne Township Fire Department Headquarters.  Experts and sponsors constructed two identical rooms/portions of homes.  The experts first burned the rooms as well as two vehicles.  The fires were extinguished during that time by cadets from the Wayne Township firefighting class.  The day of the seminar, participants spent the morning walking through the live burn remains, and examining the two burned vehicles.  In the afternoon, experts showed videos and taught directly from their examination of the scene, the techniques and methods used in fire science, to determine arson fires from those of accidental causes.  Co-hosts of the seminar were NSPII - Indiana Chapter, the Indiana Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) and the Indiana Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).  The Live Burn received coverage from Fox 59.  NSPII Members Jeff Ferrand, Mike Vergon and Jack Fetrow are featured in the news coverage.  To view the live footage, please click on this link: http://fox59.com/2013/09/24/specialized-training-designed-to-fight-arson-insurance-fraud/#axzz2gYj4ErW6.
