Membership in the Society has its privileges.  Members include investigators, insurance claims personnel, attorneys, forensic accountants and criminal investigators.

Membership in the Society is comprised of the following categories:
  • Investigators
  • Insurance Claims Personnel
  • Attorneys
  • Forensic Accountants

Criminal Investigators (new category for 2003):  A  person who conducts criminal investigations on a full-time basis in any one of the following: (i) arson investigation, (ii) accident investigation and/or reconstruction, (iii) bombs and bombing investigation, (iv) theft investigation, (v) computer related criminal investigation, (vi) death related investigation, (vii) medical and chiropractic fraud investigation, or (viii) investigation of other insurance related crimes, for a local, state or federal law enforcement agency, fire department or agency regulating the practice of medical or chiropractic services; provided that (a) such person’s primary responsibility is the investigation of crimes against persons and/or property, (b) such person’s training, education and experience are in the field of fraud detection and investigation, (c) such person spends at least twenty (20) hours per week on the investigation of potential criminal activity relating, directly or indirectly, to insurance fraud, and (d) such person provides a letter from their Police Chief, Fire Chief, or appropriate agency, division, or department head verifying such person’s employment status and work activities as outlined above. This Membership Category shall only be qualified for Auxiliary Membership Classification as set forth below:

Membership Classification - Auxiliary Member

A. Auxiliary Member Requirements. Auxiliary Members must (i) attend at least two (2) State Chapter meetings per year, or attend the annual seminar each year, and (ii) maintain full time employment status that qualifies under the Membership Category of Criminal Investigator set forth above.

B.  Auxiliary Member Rights and Privileges. An Auxiliary Member shall have no voting privileges, and shall not hold office in the National Society or any State Chapter(s). Auxiliary Members may, however, serve as members of committees on behalf of the National Society and/or State Chapter(s). Auxiliary Members shall not advance to either Full or Lifetime Membership Classification. Auxiliary Member may receive the newsletter from the National Society and the individual State Chapter(s) of which they may be a member. Auxiliary Members may receive invitations to state and national seminars, training sessions and meetings.

C. Auxiliary Member Agreements. Auxiliary Members agree as follows: (i) to abide by and adhere to the Constitution and Bylaws of the National Society and any State Chapter(s) to which they belong, (ii) not to release, in any form, to anyone not a Member of the National Society, any information as may be delivered to the Auxiliary Member including, but not limited to, membership lists, newsletter information, information pertaining to training meetings, business meetings, and seminars.

D. Initial Auxiliary Membership Grants. The National Society and each State Chapter are empowered to grant up to three (3) "complimentary" Auxiliary Memberships to individuals qualifying for Auxiliary Member Classification in order to encourage new membership in the Auxiliary Member Classification.

Dues for Auxiliary Members shall be $20.00 per year.  Each State Chapter shall receive $5.00 for each Auxiliary Member who is a member of such State Chapter.  If an Auxiliary Member is a member of more than one State Chapter, this amount shall be divided between the number of Chapters to which the Auxiliary Member maintains membership.

Each new member (under the membership categories investigators, insurance claim personnel, attorneys, and forensic accountants) accepted for membership in the Society by the Chapter and/or National Executive Boards shall initially be classified an Associate Member until such time as they may qualify for Full Member classification.

Upon completion of one (1) year probation period, each Associate Member may become eligible for advancement to Full Member classification upon meeting the requirements for Full Members.

All full and associate members must be actively engaged in the prevention of insurance fraud and adhere to our Code of Ethics.

Each new member who qualifies under the Membership Category of Criminal Investigators set forth above shall be classified as an Auxiliary Member.
